Michael Näver was slow to take the kick. During this time Protegéerna's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Protegéerna's Michael Näver to fire away a dangerous shot which Rolando Noboa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Bolo Skjold didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Jakob Lundin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Alonso Berganza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Protegéerna's Xu Yi Chong got a free kick in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 23rd minute of play forced Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bolo Skjold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Protegéerna's Xu Yi Chong got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Bolo Skjold didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 31 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bolo Skjold narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bolo Skjold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Bolo Skjold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Moises Gayoso in the 43rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Protegéerna's Ossi Eloranta. Petter Skarkman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petter Skarkman in the 54th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xu Yi Chong during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Xu Yi Chong hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julian Murillo in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bolo Skjold prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bolo Skjold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 62nd minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Petter Skarkman came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bolo Skjold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 68th minute of play forced Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th match minute, Protegéerna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ossi Eloranta to maneuver through the defense. Protegéerna's Jonny Ånger was substituted for Arman Lingren. Protegéerna made a substitution. Guido Python replaced Jakob Lundin. After 71 played minutes Protegéerna got a freekick which was hit by Ossi Eloranta. Protegéerna's Ossi Eloranta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Milagros Fraga, made in the 74th minute of the game. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Python in the 77th minute of play. When Petter Skarkman came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Protegéerna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petter Skarkman couldn't finish the play. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. 94 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael Gallo. In the 94th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bolo Skjold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Protegéerna's Bolo Skjold proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Protegéerna from getting a goal against them. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
