With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Dinamo Colorado's Davi Lamonica fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Fabrício Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Davi Lamonica kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Davi Lamonica got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Davi Lamonica recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valdo Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patricio Costa was the one to do the kick off.
