The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jose Maria Cossio in the 12 minute of the game. The supporters of FC Anderlecht Huachipato booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vitaliy Fedchenko got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Victorino Peake could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Jose Correa's late challenge caught a FC Anderlecht Huachipato's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jose Correa helped the player get up and apologised. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Victorino Peake fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Serbülent Baysan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Tomas Illescas put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Serbülent Baysan. Serbülent Baysan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Baumar Ontanilla received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Baumar Ontanilla slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 30th minute. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Maximino Astudillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute, Victorino Peake ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 41st play minute Vitaliy Fedchenko came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. 4-1. In the 46th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Vitaliy Fedchenko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 52nd minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Victorino Peake came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. 57 minutes into the match, FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Hernán Diaz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Serbülent Baysan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victorino Peake's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximino Astudillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. FC Anderlecht Huachipato's Felix Txilar was substituted for Maximino Astudillo. FC Anderlecht Huachipato made a substitution. Alberto-Federico Acosta replaced Baumar Ontanilla. In the 75th minute, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Guillermo Mariano the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Guillermo Mariano had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 75 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Venezuela! The supporters of FC Anderlecht Huachipato booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eufemio Ehijo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Txilar came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto-Federico Acosta in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victorino Peake in the 98th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. FC Anderlecht Huachipato walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
