Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Kjellqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute of the match, Henry Alströmer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Benito Sanz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Leonard Kjellqvist scored 4-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee ignored AIK's protests and gave Alfredo Kimetz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, AIK's Alfredo Kimetz got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute, Axel Tasis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Henry Alströmer got free with Benito Sanz in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 43 minute of play, and Leonard Kjellqvist capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Leonard Kjellqvist really showed his touch with that goal: 6-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leonard Kjellqvist to strike the kick off in the second half. Gustaf Håkansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hugo Mattsson couldn't finish the play. AIK's attentive Henry Alströmer managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 70th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonard Kjellqvist in the 70th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Mattsson came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Hugo Mattsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hugo Mattsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. In the 78th minute Leonard Kjellqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, Leonard Kjellqvist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonard Kjellqvist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 91st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustaf Håkansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Aaron Alcocer fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Aaron Alcocer a yellow card for diving instead. AIK's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
