With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sagrario Paniagua saved CD Municipal from getting behind. In the 7th minute of the game Orland Urria made a throw-in which Lapurdi Collazo played forward. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. The supporters of CD Municipal booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cornelio Rigueiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sagrario Paniagua breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 21 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Xan Revillas to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Sagrario Paniagua in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sagrario Paniagua having to interfere. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 55th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sagrario Paniagua having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaztea Rubin in the 71st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Sagrario Paniagua came out and tried to block the shot, but Tomas Illescas slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 75th minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Kemen Zalon hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Sagrario Paniagua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sagrario Paniagua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 89th minute of play. Tomas Illescas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 93rdth minute, Sagrario Paniagua skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Venezuela played a much better game than CD Municipal and deserved their victory. The CD Municipal players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
