In the 44th minute, Julian Murillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 52nd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dochko Rodev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. In the 96th minute, Rafael Gallo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dochko Rodev was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2.
