Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosmos Soccer Club the free kick. In the 12th minute, Patrick Fontenot ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Donovan Heath's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donovan Heath helped the player get up and apologised. Donovan Heath hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Patrick Fontenot kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. A collision led to Cosmos Soccer Club getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Brian Mendoza hit a great ball. In the 27th minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Patrick Fontenot. In the last second Benito Sanz throw himself and got hold of the ball when Patrick Fontenot in the 30thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 32 minutes into the match, Shawn Romero dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 2-0. In the 36th match minute, Cosmos Soccer Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian Mendoza to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Cosmos Soccer Club's Patrick Fontenot. But to his dismay, Patrick Fontenot quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 44 minutes, Brian Mendoza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cosmos Soccer Club and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a Cosmos Soccer Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Harvey Flynn took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 67th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benito Sanz. In the 77th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarrett Rosenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Patrick Fontenot's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Cosmos Soccer Club fully deserved thier win.
