Curcio Alonso struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vodka Stars 1949. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Vodka Stars 1949's goalie and right to Agustín Saelices. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Vodka Stars 1949's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After a rather tough play, Vodka Stars 1949's Alifonso Irureta got a free kick in the 10th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Vodka Stars 1949 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nektarios Vrachopoulos didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Cosmin Mihuleac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Generoso Beloki having to make a save. Generoso Beloki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Vodka Stars 1949's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Generoso Beloki came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 34 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Vodka Stars 1949's Generoso Beloki. Generoso Beloki was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 39th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Generoso Beloki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Generoso Beloki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 44th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Vodka Stars 1949's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Erik Véber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vodka Stars 1949's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Véber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Generoso Beloki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Vodka Stars 1949's Generoso Beloki. Generoso Beloki was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vodka Stars 1949's Martin Batalla was substituted for Erik Véber. In the 67thth minute of the game Curcio Alonso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vodka Stars 1949's Generoso Beloki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 71st minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curcio Alonso in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Vodka Stars 1949's goalkeeper Generoso Beloki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Beloki having to interfere. Alifonso Irureta hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 81st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Vodka Stars 1949's Generoso Beloki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 85th minute of play. Luis Andino's late challenge caught a Vodka Stars 1949's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Andino helped the player get up and apologised. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. After 90 minutes of play, Vodka Stars 1949's Cosmin Mihuleac made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Generoso Beloki made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cristian Sancho during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Martin Batalla kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Vodka Stars 1949.
