Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ramiro Paul stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ramiro Paul tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 20th minute Cormoranii -MM- were awarded a corner. Marcel Vulpe went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Cormoranii -MM-'s Marcel Vulpe to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Roberto Perfumo kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Dino Zoff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dino Zoff was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ramiro Paul could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Lucrețiu Sântimbrean tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Ramiro Paul made the kick off in the second half. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cormoranii -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils-Åke Nyström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cormoranii -MM-'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. Ramiro Paul charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramiro Paul the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Cormoranii -MM-'s Ramiro Paul got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 65thth minute of the game Ramiro Paul who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Eugen Boldur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Dino Zoff made a huge save. In the 81st minute Ramiro Paul shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramiro Paul, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The supporters of Cormoranii -MM- booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramiro Paul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ecuador had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
