Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sonny Perkins, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Sonny Perkins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Quetzal Flyers Hammers getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Leonard Käller hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sonny Perkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play forced Quetzal Flyers Hammers's goalkeeper Francesco Marines to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Quetzal Flyers Hammers's Sonny Perkins. But to his dismay, Sonny Perkins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 36 minutes into the match, Quetzal Flyers Hammers's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Francesco Marines reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Quetzal Flyers Hammers's Antoni Majusiak got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Francesco Marines took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Quetzal Flyers Hammers's Sonny Perkins got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Quetzal Flyers Hammers made a substitution. Frank Lampard replaced Melker Bergdal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Francesco Marines made a huge save. Francesco Marines was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Agustín Saelices showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 54 minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sonny Perkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Sonny Perkins might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sonny Perkins ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sonny Perkins in the 82nd minute of the match. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Francesco Marines made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 86th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Quetzal Flyers Hammers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glenn Hysén didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Francesco Marines didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sonny Perkins's shot from short distance in the 98th minute. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Quetzal Flyers Hammers had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
