Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) FC Lugano's Fred Lara started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jakub Waselenczuk didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4 minutes into the match, Fred Lara notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Alcocer in the 8th minute of play forced FC Lugano's goalkeeper La Para to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 minutes of play, FC Lugano's Fred Lara made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Saunders in the 29th minute. 30 minutes into the game, Fred Lara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 33 played minutes Fred Lara rounded Costa Rica's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 6-0. In the 36th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Jakub Waselenczuk got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Fred Laras short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Yusuf Ziya Cerit had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fred Lara in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fred Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Saunders in the 61st minute of the match. The FC Lugano fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when FC Lugano's Fred Lara looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 8-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. FC Lugano's Wincenty Kochowski was substituted for Nereo Precioso. FC Lugano made a substitution. Enéas Silva replaced Igor Linares. FC Lugano's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Zhao Le Sen in the 70th minute. The corner ended in Zhao Le Sen almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz did a great save. After 71 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Jakub Waselenczuk. Jakub Waselenczuk hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Edmondo Gulli got a free kick in the 74th minute. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Fred Lara put it in 9-0 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. After 81 minutes, Fred Lara made it 10-0 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. In the 86th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 87 played minutes, FC Lugano's Edmondo Gulli shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Lugano reached it. If Fred Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When FC Lugano's Klas Tingelholm in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 91st minute. 94 minutes into the game, FC Lugano's Klas Tingelholm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 11-0.
