Moises Tafalla's late challenge caught a C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moises Tafalla helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of C Ａ R D I N Ａ L booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Tafalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lautaro Navarro didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 17th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Edgar Gurlui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Espinar, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Marian Macrea got a throw-in 36 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Iulian Ghionea.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sorin Chihaia to make the kick off. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sorin Chihaia's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sorin Chihaia in the 56th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Sorin Chihaia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C Ａ R D I N Ａ L fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Sebastian Villa kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. If Iulian Ghionea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Gurlui made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 67th minute of play. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by C Ａ R D I N Ａ L's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edmundo Espiga was slow to take the kick. During this time Honduras's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sorin Chihaia in the 96th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Honduras were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
