But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Inko Sagrario made in the 10th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas. 11 minutes into the game, Placido Trabado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mesere's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 12th match minute, Mesere was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Placido Trabado to maneuver through the defense. Luís Gustavo Pimentas short, quick shot in the 13thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cai Fei Cheng having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 17th minute of play forced Mesere's goalkeeper Cai Fei Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Placido Trabado got his second yellow card in the match during the 17th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 18th match minute, Mesere was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Placido Trabado to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cai Fei Cheng. Mesere's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The supporters of Mesere booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute Serafin Cernadas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Luís Gustavo Pimenta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luís Gustavo Pimenta really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Serafin Cernadas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Serafin Cernadas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After 54 played minutes, Mesere's Behe Ruisuarez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mesere reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serafin Cernadas in the 63rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Gustavo Pimenta struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mesere. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serafin Cernadas went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Mesere made a substitution. Mustafa Emrah Vahip replaced Hever Almaguer. The long shot by Camilo Gaos in the 89th minute really tested Cai Fei Cheng's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Cai Fei Cheng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Cai Fei Cheng. Mesere's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Cai Fei Cheng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Venezuela succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Mesere had controlled the match.
