Matias Carlomagno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dinei Rosa in the 37th minute of the match. Mo Yi Sang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Fernando Alvarenga having to interfere. Gigi Penaru was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 45 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, one of San Lorenzo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for San Lorenzo. In the 47th minute, Martin Lleir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dinei Rosa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Martin Lleir fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Lorenzo's protests and gave Martin Lleir a yellow card for diving instead. Martin Lleir hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Hoàng Thuy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Matias Carlomagno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Matias Carlomagno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anselmo Navarro. With a little luck, San Lorenzo's Matias Carlomagno got control of the ball when Hoàng Thuy tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eduardo Soriano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Carlos Fernando Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
