Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Theo Hayles sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Club Sportivo Italiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leon Egun didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21stth minute of the game Theo Hayles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evelio Pes in the 22nd minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Leon Egun was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Sportivo Italiano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Leon Egun hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Felix Montenegro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reynaldo Stephen having to make a save. The supporters of Club Sportivo Italiano booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Theo Hayles in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theo Hayles in the 36th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Club Sportivo Italiano got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luisito Bikendi ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Club Sportivo Italiano's corner Luisito Bikendi fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Reynaldo Stephen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 46th minute, Cesar Roderigo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luisito Bikendi who took care of the corner kick. Reynaldo Stephen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evelio Pes in the 57th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Stephen having to interfere. In the 67th minute, Basilio Araoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Theo Hayles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Reynaldo Stephen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Reynaldo Stephen in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Reynaldo Stephen quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Club Sportivo Italiano's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Stephen came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Evelio Pes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Evelio Pes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 93rd match minute, Club Sportivo Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sol Campbell to maneuver through the defense. After 95 played minutes Club Sportivo Italiano got a freekick which was hit by Luisito Bikendi. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Sportivo Italiano's goalkeeper Reynaldo Stephen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Club Sportivo Italiano.
