In the 24thth minute of the game Edward Mcdonald who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Ouagadougou National's Rene Vereijt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Monty Rogers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rene Vereijt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abdulla Baia, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Vereijt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute, Abdulla Baia made a precise shot to the right of Marco Day. USA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. FC Ouagadougou National's Dani Rojas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Diego Bradley, made in the 35th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Cassius Byrne left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Marco Day made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dani Rojas in the 41st minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the USA players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
