The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sporting Club Sicilia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Sporting Club Sicilia's Concetto Rucci suffered a sore foot after 26 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jose Correa during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sporting Club Sicilia's Carter Marsili was substituted for Concetto Rucci. The supporters of Sporting Club Sicilia booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carter Marsili was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Concetto De Nardis got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 6-1 in the right cross in the 47th match minute before Jonathan Ferrant had time to react. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 6-1 at half-time.

During the 52nd minute of the match Emiliano Pizziolo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Emiliano Pizziolo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 53rd minute, Emiliano Pizziolo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting Club Sicilia's Alvaro Sanna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Club Sicilia from getting a goal against them. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sporting Club Sicilia's Alvaro Sanna did a great save. The audience was convinced that Salvador Gisbert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alvaro Sanna was relentless in the 89th minute of the game.
