Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Messias having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play forced Encarale a la gordita's goalkeeper Laerte Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Laerte Messias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 13 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Encarale a la gordita's Laerte Messias. Laerte Messias was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laerte Messias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Agustín Saelices struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Laerte Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Laerte Messias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of the match. After 35 minutes, Felix Montenegro made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Encarale a la gordita's Laerte Messias tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Laerte Messias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacobo Dodorol to make the kick off. In the 54th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Laerte Messias was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Encarale a la gordita's Laerte Messias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Encarale a la gordita from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 88th minute of play forced Encarale a la gordita's goalkeeper Laerte Messias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho scored 0-7 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Laerte Messias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laerte Messias read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. After 94 minutes of play Encarale a la gordita's Sergio Lekubegi was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Ecuador played a much better game than Encarale a la gordita and deserved their victory. The Encarale a la gordita players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
