Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 11 minutes into the match, Toronto Marlies FC's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Anfilogino Amicone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Gaona in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anfilogino Amicone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 13th minute, Gigel Bucur left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Toronto Marlies FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Toronto Marlies FC's goalkeeper Anfilogino Amicone, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Anfilogino Amicone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 19th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Gigel Bucur dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dante Lacasa, 3-0. Anfilogino Amicone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 26th minute of the match. Anfilogino Amicone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Leonardo Leoz got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 41st minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anfilogino Amicone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Leoz made in the 46th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Lautaro Mancebo. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Anfilogino Amicone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 55th minute of play. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 56th minute. Toronto Marlies FC's attentive Gaston Rader managed to snatch the ball when Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in in the 60th minute of the game. Anfilogino Amicone made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 61st minute. Anfilogino Amicone had great luck who in the 61stth minute grab hold of the ball when Alberto Tafalla from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 62nd minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Toronto Marlies FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Anfilogino Amicone in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Anfilogino Amicone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Gigel Bucur's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Toronto Marlies FC's Josiah Ferland was substituted for Daniel Passarelli. Macos Graciani made in the 71st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Toronto Marlies FC's Kurt Björling. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gigel Bucur in the 73rd minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Gigel Bucur had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gigel Bucur was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josiah Ferland in the 85th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Anfilogino Amicone firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, Toronto Marlies FC's Léopold Thomas got a free kick in the 90th minute. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
