Joshua Miralles charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The wind increased when Alfredo Ferrant made the kick off in the second half. Mario Fernandino's late challenge caught a C.A. Peñarol's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mario Fernandino helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of C.A. Peñarol booed when Bolivia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Fernandino didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee ended the match the C.A. Peñarol players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
