Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Manfred Konradsson went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute, Julian Murillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 20th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernst de Hoop saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernst de Hoop showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The supporters of Peru booed when Lemel SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomasz Resel didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 40th minute of play forced Lemel SV's goalkeeper Ernst de Hoop to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 42 minutes of play Lemel SV's Tomasz Resel was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 43 played minutes Lemel SV got a freekick which was hit by Tomasz Resel. 44 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ernst de Hoop narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half Peru were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 69th minute, Julian Murillo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ernst de Hoop. The goal made the score 2-7. Luz Tejedor might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernst de Hoop. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
