In the 14th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateus Teves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Academia Monte Gordo's José Paulo Afonso got a free kick in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Academia Monte Gordo's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Mateus Teves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flávio Anjos in the 20th minute. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Belchior Ribas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frederico Campelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when António Mendes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 34 minutes of play, Academia Monte Gordo's Belchior Ribas made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Flávio Anjos fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Monte Gordo's protests and gave Flávio Anjos a yellow card for diving instead. Flávio Anjos hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by António Mendes in the 42nd minute. When Francisco Morata fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Monte Gordo's protests and gave Francisco Morata a yellow card for diving instead. Francisco Morata hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Eliseo Noboa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mateus Teves was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and António Mendes made a kick off. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Mendes in the 52nd minute of play. In the 58th minute, António Mendes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Belchior Ribas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Belchior Ribas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Belchior Ribas in the 66th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Academia Monte Gordo booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel Carballo charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abel Carballo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from António Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Belchior Ribas in the 79th minute of the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belchior Ribas in the 82nd minute of play. Belchior Ribas succeeded in the game's 84th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-1. 87 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Belchior Ribas came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 90 minutes of play, Academia Monte Gordo's António Mendes made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 95th minute, Belchior Ribas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Monte Gordo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1.
