The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from C.J. 吕布, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by C.J. 吕布 in the 20th minute. C.J. 吕布 might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benny Koks in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Benny Koks made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Hector Hanmark hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
