Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Bernt Jønsson kicked off to start the match. With a little luck, El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita got control of the ball when Bernt Jønsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernt Jønsson got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fábio de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Jønsson in the 13th minute of play. After 21 played minutes José Carlos Simões rounded El Salvador's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Moises Fernandino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 25 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Valentino Ferrant. The crowd rose to their feet as José Carlos Simões kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 3-0 in the 28 minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but Jacinto Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernt Jønsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Moises Fernandino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacinto Chaves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Chaves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Ricardo Zorita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernt Jønsson in the 42nd minute. Moises Fernandino's late challenge caught a Palmeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moises Fernandino helped the player get up and apologised. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Fábio de Souza in the 53rd minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute of the match Palmeiras got a corner. El Salvador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bernt Jønsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Palmeiras getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jonas Torres hit a great ball. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Curbelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's Bernt Jønsson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Palmeiras's Bernt Jønsson. But to his dismay, Bernt Jønsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. 64 minutes into the match, El Salvador's Abram Luque sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Chaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Moises Fernandino struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Jacinto Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Salvador. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio de Souza in the 73rd minute of play. When Bernt Jønsson came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Palmeiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernt Jønsson couldn't finish the play. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Carlos Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 84 minutes, Jesus Carvallo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Salvador and the Palmeiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 84th minute, Jesus Carvallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when José Carlos Simões came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marco Tamayo charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marco Tamayo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Marco Tamayo got a free kick in the 86th minute. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Jønsson in the 89th minute of play. Jacinto Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abram Luque, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palmeiras fans cheered their team off the field, for while El Salvador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
