Demonde Jacobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Carlos Simões in the 18th minute of the match. When Geroy Ascue fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jamaica's protests and gave Geroy Ascue a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Jamaica getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Geroy Ascue hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Javan Develder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fábio de Souza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Demonde Jacobson made a huge save. 26 minutes into the match, Jamaica's goalkeeper Demonde Jacobson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elano Soares. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fábio de Souza in the 33rd minute of play forced Jamaica's goalkeeper Demonde Jacobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Palmeiras's José Carlos Simões in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the game, Palmeiras's Bernt Jønsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Demonde Jacobson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bernt Jønsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Fábio de Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Demonde Jacobson was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Jønsson in the 58th minute of play forced Jamaica's goalkeeper Demonde Jacobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wayan Freeman's late challenge caught a Palmeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wayan Freeman helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Jamaica getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Wayan Freeman hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Jamaica defense, Fábio de Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Demonde Jacobson. The Jamaica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Demonde Jacobson should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Jamaica's Romon Oliver got a free kick in the 79th minute. Demonde Jacobson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elano Soares in the 83rd minute of the match. Demonde Jacobson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Carlos Simões in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Bernt Jønsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Demonde Jacobson was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. In the 89th minute, Fábio de Souza made a precise shot to the right of Demonde Jacobson. Jamaica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 10-0. In the 93rd minute Fábio de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demonde Jacobson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
