Punta Alvear's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jacinto Eleazar in the 15th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Gervasio Godoy heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Punta Alvear's Ermegildo Heriberto got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Punta Alvear's Inocencio Frichoso dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 30th minute, Inocencio Frichoso made a precise shot to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Honduras's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 39th minute, Inocencio Frichoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Inocencio Frichoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute, Jacinto Eleazar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lautaro Navarro was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. 48 minutes into the match, Punta Alvear's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo Espiga came free, but Venancio Oto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Inocencio Frichoso to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Punta Alvear's Justino Bartolome got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Punta Alvear's Ermegildo Heriberto got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a free kick in the 55th minute. Punta Alvear made a substitution. Edelmiro Veremundo replaced Emanuel Gizon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Inocencio Frichoso in the 61st minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Villa in the 62nd minute of play forced Punta Alvear's goalkeeper Venancio Oto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 65 minutes of play, Punta Alvear's Jacinto Eleazar made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lautaro Navarro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ermegildo Heriberto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the game, Inocencio Frichoso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Lautaro Navarro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 78 minutes into the game, Punta Alvear's Inocencio Frichoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lautaro Navarro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. If Edmundo Espiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Honduras booed when Punta Alvear was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogdan Gopov didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute Inocencio Frichoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
