But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Kooth couldn't finish the play. Rodrigo Palacios didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aaron Alcocer went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Costa Rica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Rodrigo Palacios made a huge save. When the match was over Costa Rica could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than ≮王者归来≯News at 11 throughout the match.
