An unexpectedly hard shot by Slawomir Majak in the 19th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karen FC's Ma Yong Jun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Arvin Svanberg came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arvin Svanberg in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 41st minute. The long shot by Rickard Lövkvist in the 41st minute really tested Julio Vera's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 41 minutes into the game Rickard Lövkvist came into a good position and shot a long shot on goal. Karen FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rickard Lövkvist in the 57th minute. Bai Yan Feng was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Ma Yong Jun threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 61st minute of the match Rickard Lövkvist shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Ma Yong Jun successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Karen FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Karen FC's Ma Yong Jun managed to reach the ball for a save. After 65 played minutes Karen FC got a freekick which was hit by Åke Rolandsson. After 69 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. 70 minutes into the match, Karen FC's Arvin Svanberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 71st minute Arvin Svanberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arvin Svanberg scored 2-0 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Slawomir Majak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Ma Yong Jun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute. Ma Yong Jun made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 90 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Karen FC's Bon Guidetti was substituted for Arvin Svanberg. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Ma Yong Jun to make any attempt to save it. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Karen FC had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
