The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Maximiliano Escribano hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Uruguay from getting a goal against them. Ezio Gøls short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Joaquin Gayoso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 25th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Seco to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the game, Camilo Covarrubias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA the free kick. Camilo Covarrubias hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Ezio Gøl from long distance, 29 minutes into the match, got Joaquin Gayoso's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Bruno Beldad hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Ezio Gøls short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Joaquin Gayoso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Camilo Covarrubias was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 45 minutes had been played. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Covarrubias didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ezio Gøl to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ezio Gøl in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fred Valencia in the 55th minute of the match. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Fred Valencia. But to his dismay, Fred Valencia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ezio Gøl in the 58th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Alisson Goycochea successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 61stth minute of the game Ezio Gøl who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Fred Valencia managed to get in a good position for a shot. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Fred Valencia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alisson Goycochea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 64th minute of play. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Alisson Goycochea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA from getting a goal against them. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ezio Gøl in the 71st minute of the match. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ezio Gøl's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute, Franklin Velloso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 80 minutes into the game, Nilmar de Souza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Alisson Goycochea got control of the ball when Maximiliano Escribano tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Franklin Velloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovanni Ramalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
