Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Santiago Macena made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 47 minutes, Milagros Fraga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Milagros Fraga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Modesto Bras in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 63rd minute of play. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. from getting a goal against them. When Rafael Gallo came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Gallo couldn't finish the play.
