Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Fabiofs's Ronaldinho Molski got a free kick in the 11th minute. After 13 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Daniel Regis did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Julio Vera 14 minutes into the match. After having played for 17 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Hegg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Daniel Regis sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Regiss short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 36th match minute, Fabiofs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodriguinho Schmidt to maneuver through the defense.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Cauan Batista in the 53rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Cauan Batista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fabiofs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexander Hegg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexander Hegg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 74th minute of play. After having played for 80 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. In the 89th minute Daniel Regis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cauan Batista, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute.
