In the 34th minute, Milagros Fraga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Costin Moisil got free with Rolando Noboa in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Efraim Gilabert charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Efraim Gilabert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 46 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Efraim Gilabert. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Tadej Pogačar made a huge save. Tadej Pogačar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
