When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Maximino Lope sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but André Zonta was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Eliseo Mina put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of André Zonta. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A long shot from Luz Tejedor in the 75th minute of play was well struck, but André Zonta made a really good save at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Thorsberg in the 85th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
