The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Bernard Niemojewski in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Duke Levy came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Alagoano in the 70th minute of play. If Cristiano Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Dreamland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duke Levy didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duke Levy in the 94th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
