After 19 minutes of play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fred Bonk was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Venezuela booed when 福建宁德活塞队 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. 康云光 didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell 方桑正 to make the kick off. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 方桑正 in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Salvador Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. Salvador Gisbert hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 59th minute 方桑正 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to 福建宁德活塞队 getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. 康云光 hit a great ball. 方桑正 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by 康云光 in the 71 minute of the game. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 方桑正's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. In the 87th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 方桑正 in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
