Tomas Berganza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 姜烨坚 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 23rd minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Kenneth Lindblom had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kenneth Lindblom was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Bertil Örtlund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. Marcos Cotilla didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bertil Örtlund went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute Kenneth Lindblom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 姜烨坚 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 40th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Sven-Oskar Skager hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isidoro Sarmiento in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck 姜烨坚 prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 58th minute, 姜青云 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 60th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Ros to maneuver through the defense. 姜烨坚 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Berganza's shot from short distance in the 64th minute.
