Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. Valko Nanyov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ignacio Alvarez in the 68th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Ignacio Alvarez made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0.
