If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Chico Vidales sent off a good shot on target. Nàstic de Tarragona were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chico Vidales took the corner. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nàstic de Tarragona's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Julian Murillo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Chico Vidales blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. 26 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chico Vidales. In the 29th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Nàstic de Tarragona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 36 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Emmanuel Reyes. 38 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chico Vidales. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Luz Tejedor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Sixto Fraco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Peru booed when Nàstic de Tarragona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicodemo Valines didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 48 played minutes, Peru's Luz Tejedor shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sixto Fraco came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Peru reached it. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

58 minutes into the match, Nàstic de Tarragona's Chico Vidales sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chico Vidales in the 63rd minute of play. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nàstic de Tarragona's Javi Bonilla was substituted for Nicodemo Valines. After 74 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Alonso Berganza. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Alonso Berganza hit a great ball. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iñaki Portillo in the 79th minute of play. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iñaki Portillo went, in the 79th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 81stth minute of the game Iñaki Portillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iñaki Portillo in the 83rd minute of the match. Rolando Noboa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Iñaki Portillo's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sixto Fraco saved Nàstic de Tarragona from getting behind. Sixto Fraco was a little too slow when Rafael Gallo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 1-1. Nàstic de Tarragona succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Peru had controlled the match.
