Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 36 minutes into the game, when Juan Sebastián Puig put in a rough tackle. 35 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 41 minutes into the match, Aleksander Gustafsson notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Kent Kilberg blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Kent Kilberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kent Kilberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Kent Kilberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew the final whistle, Hockeysnubbarnas BK could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
