Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that ATLETAS FC's Ronny Engström managed to reach the ball for a save. 7 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ronny Engström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ronny Engström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 18 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronny Engström having to interfere. In the 31st match minute, ATLETAS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haroldo Gibert to maneuver through the defense. A throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game was made by Felix Montenegro with Daniel Zorita as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After 36 minutes of play, ATLETAS FC's Saul Phelipe made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Phelipe in the 40th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ronny Engström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 47 minutes, Saul Phelipe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ATLETAS FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Saul Phelipe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute of the match Haroldo Gibert shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Phelipe in the 65th minute of play. ATLETAS FC made a substitution. Eutropio Turienzo replaced Saul Phelipe. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Ronny Engström made a huge save. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eutropio Turienzo's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Eutropio Turienzo might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eutropio Turienzo ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eutropio Turienzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Eutropio Turienzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to ATLETAS FC getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Marc de Pelsmakere hit a great ball. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, ATLETAS FC could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
