The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Oscar Iyan, 11 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 14th match minute, Rio Gallegos Unidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulino Mancio to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Rio Gallegos Unidos booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Fernandino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Iyan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. El Salvador's Moises Fernandino got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Abram Luque hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the game, Oscar Iyan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ricardo Zorita. Oscar Iyan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Ibhya Kharka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Rio Gallegos Unidos booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Tamayo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute Oscar Iyan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Iyan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere.

Jorge Magrina charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Magrina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Jorge Magrina got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 57 minutes into the game, Oscar Iyan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rio Gallegos Unidos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Salvador the free kick. Oscar Iyan hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Rio Gallegos Unidos's Oscar Iyan. But to his dismay, Oscar Iyan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Thanks to some nice moves Moises Fernandino could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Roman Iza however easily saved by the left post. In the 64th minute, Oscar Iyan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ricardo Zorita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulino Mancio went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Mateo Leguizamo hit a great ball. In the 70th minute Oscar Iyan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar Iyan in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Zorita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 77 minutes into the match, Emilio Nuno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilio Nuno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Carmelo Soter was substituted for Ciriaco Ekialde. LeBron James hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Rio Gallegos Unidos's Oscar Iyan. But to his dismay, Oscar Iyan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Moises Fernandino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abram Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. After 98 minutes, Oscar Iyan made it 8-0 with a short kick to the right side. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
