Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fabian Oosterbaan went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radomir Spychalski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Donald Heide kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Lautaro Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chiel Donderwinkel in the 29th minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Boca Gregorian Juniors's Donald Heide dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. When Ronaldo-Luís Bubber fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boca Gregorian Juniors's protests and gave Ronaldo-Luís Bubber a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Boca Gregorian Juniors getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Ronaldo-Luís Bubber hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute Donald Heide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Boca Gregorian Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filippo Inzaghi, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. When Filippo Inzaghi came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Boca Gregorian Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filippo Inzaghi couldn't finish the play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Boca Gregorian Juniors had played much better football throughout.
