In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind JK Kurevere's goalkeeper Ago Leks, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ivar Meri charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivar Meri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ago Leks was left in no man's land by his defense there! Martti Asmer hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ago Leks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Vallo Laada's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Tomas Illescas sped through JK Kurevere's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ago Leks. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Ago Leks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ago Leks prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alo Lumi to make the kick off. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. The referee ignored JK Kurevere's protests and gave Martti Asmer a yellow card for diving instead. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ago Leks made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 74th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alo Lumi during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, JK Kurevere's Alo Lumi got a free kick in the 77th minute. The long shot by Camilo Gaos in the 78th minute really tested Ago Leks's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.
