Marco Pero showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. 40 minutes into the match, Marco Pero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marco Pero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. 45 minutes into the game, Marco Pero recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. Marco Pero showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 6-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match.
