After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Axel Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colombia's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Talha Mertkal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th minute, Axel Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Talha Mertkal. Kolonia Radlin's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. When Kevin Mastache fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Colombia's protests and gave Kevin Mastache a yellow card for diving instead. Kevin Mastache kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Hernán Felip hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Kevin Mastache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Talha Mertkal having to interfere. Marek Bergkamp might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Manzanares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marek Bergkamp ran back to his position shaking his head. Tolek Brzeszczak kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The long shot by Axel Montenegro in the 64th minute really tested Talha Mertkal's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Colombia booed when Kolonia Radlin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Brás didn't get a good kick on the ball.
