In the 17th minute of the match, Wagner Kill got a very nice opportunity to score, but Thiago Pliego was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wagner Kill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Agostini came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wagner Kill in the 89th minute of the match. Orlando Casaus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grzegorz Szamotulski having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunnar Deisler in the 93rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
