Serafin Dantel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 20 minutes into the game, Joe Sulser was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newells Old Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A very good chance. Newells Old Boys's goalie Serafin Dantel was quick on his feet when Daniel Zorita aimed and made a shot towards the top left corner. The goalie picked down the ball without great difficulties. Ecuador played a much better game than Newells Old Boys and deserved their victory. The Newells Old Boys players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
