Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Silverio Tuste made the kick off which started today's match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André-Pierre Gignac, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silverio Tuste in the 5th minute of the match. 7 minutes into the game, Silverio Tuste recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Silverio Tuste showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 10th minute, Joe Sulser ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 20 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Silverio Tuste tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute, Venezuela's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Silverio Tuste fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpected shot in the 27th minute by Silverio Tuste got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silverio Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Silverio Tuste came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 35th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafin Dantel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Cao Liang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silverio Tuste got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joe Sulser fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Silverio Tuste might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silverio Tuste ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Silverio Tuste sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Venezuela's attentive Jose Correa managed to snatch the ball when Jens-Erik Hellström made a throw-in in the 54th minute of the game. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jens-Erik Hellström didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Sulser in the 59th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Adan Chinto's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adan Chinto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adan Chinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adan Chinto kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chu Xiang Chang in the 77th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. André-Pierre Gignac kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Newells Old Boys made a substitution. Horacio Errapel replaced André-Pierre Gignac. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. André-Pierre Gignac didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 91st match minute, Newells Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cao Liang to maneuver through the defense. When Chu Xiang Chang came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Newells Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chu Xiang Chang couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chu Xiang Chang in the 94th minute of play. Newells Old Boys were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Venezuela for a fine match.
