Paraguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lucjan Kendra ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Lucjan Kendra almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Paraguay's Jacobo Nores did a great save. In the 32nd minute, Marin Jumancă made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 38th minute, Jaime Pardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marin Jumancă in the 40th minute of play. With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Marin Jumancă tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sérgio Vidal hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After having played for 76 minutes, Wolfgang Dalkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Huckebein's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wolfgang Dalkvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wolfgang Dalkvist in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 84th minute of the game. One of Paraguay:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Huckebein:s goal. Paraguay's attentive Hector Covarrubias managed to snatch the ball when Wilfredo Ugutz made a throw-in in the 89th minute of the game. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wolfgang Dalkvist's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute Wolfgang Dalkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wolfgang Dalkvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wolfgang Dalkvist in the 98th minute of play. Jose Sanz made in the 99th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Huckebein's Alvaro Perez. If Wolfgang Dalkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 101st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
