Ruben Sánchez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico.

The wind increased when Martin Palermo made the kick off in the second half. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. After 56 minutes of play, La Candela FC's Rubén-Darío Feldmann made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 75th minute of play. When Nahuel Molina fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Candela FC's protests and gave Nahuel Molina a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabi Batistuta in the 89th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, La Candela FC's Gabi Batistuta got a free kick in the 94th minute. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
